tazza-cafes-movie-night

Thursday Nights showing of Raiders of the Lost Ark at Tazza Cafe for movie night went well.

There is no bad seat, even sitting at outside table you could still see everything. The crowd was small at first then everyone showed up as dusk arrived.

Free seating, burgers and hot dogs grilled outside, popcorn.

The basic set up is showing said movie (on DVD) across a large white board on a brick wall with two large speakers for left and right channels. Simple and effective once the crowd settles and thankfully they turned up the sound last night cuz let’s face it, you wanna hear all those punches and the music.

There was even a little kid dressed up as Indy with the hat, shirt, pants and the whip and I’ll assume his father had a mix of Beloq’s hat and creepy german guy jacket.

Even one of the PVD Cops driving by asked when the movie started.

If anyone feels like going I’d highly recommend bringing a chair, blanket and jackets.

ri-film-tax-credit-shenanigans-over

About two weeks ago, Projo posted an article about the Tax Credit Verbiage being adjusted to include more Rhode Island base companies instead getting out-of-state companies involved. Judging from the article I’d say it’s a step in the right direction.

Now, if SAG/AFTRA would come to agreement and get their respective contracts signed…

a-happy-birthday-to-mister-basile

Mister Basile is fortunate enough to turn 33 on the last day of April.

As Penda would say: May you have sloppy birthday sex.

Or in Mister Basile’s case, maybe the rugrats not wake you up in the middle of the night.

Someone’s been busy…

rhode-island-film-tax-credit-saga-throws-around-numb3rs

I’ve brought up the current saga of the Rhode Island Film Tax Credit more than once and now it’s time to link yet another Projo Article and link to a retort to said article from 94 HJY’s DJ, Jeff Charles.

First things is first, the link to 94 HJY will probably change once a new rant is posted since, for whatever mind boggling reason, 94 HJY cannot seem to get on the bandwagon like all us other Word Press users and actually use Word Press for Jeff Charles’s Diary of a Psychotic.

But, that’s neither here nor there.

The real problem I have is with The Providence Journal.

I’ve mentioned before how many portions of these Film Tax Credit articles was cut and pasted from previous articles. So much so that if you read them long enough you know about the lengthy ongoing legal shenanigans that dragged on for many a month between The Providence Journal and the Rhode Island Film and Television Office to have the RI Film and TV Office release their records.

The current article that showed up two days ago is part of these shenanigans and I must say: Projo could please stop banging the “Woe is us, Woe is us, we’re in a finacial trouble in the Ocean State.” drum. If you continue to pull these shenanigans I’ll be forced to send you to your room without desert.

We all know the Ocean State budget is in trouble, we all know the Gov’ment is looking to tighten it’s purse strings. But, the Rhode Island Film and Television Office should not be the one to lose out because some fat cat wants his raise for doing next to nothing.

Some of us enjoy being extras, sitting around for 5 hours, networking aka shooting the shit, being fed and then being told we won’t be needed and still getting paid for 8 hours.

Do you seriously want all the films to go to Mass or CT? Do you seriously want the proposed Film Studio down in Hopkinton to become just that: proposed? Because it sure and heeeeccckkkk sounds like you do.

So, pipe down and go find some other human interest story to do.

It should be noted that this post has absolutely nothing to do with the $50 check I received for networking for 5 hours, getting fed and not getting called to do extra work on Tell Tale in Providence two weeks ago.

Nothing at all.

A Projo article about the continuing saga of the Rhode Island’s Film Tax Credit.

The continuing example (aka let’s cut and paste some more from previous articles) of the Wesley Snipes movie filmed in Rhode Island that went straight to DVD reminds me of the days when HDTV Channels were so scarce and worries of the the Super Bowl in HD were on the horizon.

Personally, after spending 5 hours in Providence on the set of Tell Tale, waiting with the other extras to be called then never being used and getting fed/paid for it, I sincerely hope they get this Tax Credit thing fixed so everyone is happy.

The price of gas being what it is, I don’t feel like huffing it over to CT or up to MA for call times. I like

Boring pictures of that 5 hour wait forthcoming. . .

the-legend-of-lili-deacon

I mentioned before that Cartoon Frolics had been recently updated and didn’t explain much else.

One the screenplays Paul and I had been working on after “Off The Post…” was a western with cowboys, indians and creatures that go bump in the night. And, after a bit we figured out that maybe the script shouldn’t be a movie but something bigger.

After a bit of brainstorming we decided to create a web comic that takes place before the screenplay when our heroine was still learning the ropes.

That web comic is called The Legend of Lili Deacon.

The comic’s posting schedule will be Tuesday/Thursday. The first page will be up on April 8th.

Myself, Paul and Brenden O’Neill will be writing with art chores from Paul.

[EDITED: Paul's comic graciously reminded me that the web comic is not an adaptation of the original screenplay but a prequel.]

The Fine Print: The Legends of Lili Deacon is rated R for violence against demons and other creatures that don’t exist.
