“Off The Post..” did not place in Creative Screenwriting Expo Contest.
Congrats to those who did.
Scoreboard: US: 0, Opposing Team: 1.
Still have to hear back from Disney, Zoetrope and Scriptmag’s Creeps Contest.
Scriptmag by the end of the month. Disney by the end of the year and Zoetrope by the end Feburary.

Genre Contests are nice.
So long as you have a script in that Genre.
With “Off The Post…” placing in the Quarterfinals but not placing in the Semi Finals of either AAA or Scriptapalooza I’ve decided to enter The Thrills And Chills Screenwriting Contest that is sponsered by Scr(i)pt Magazine and Guy Walks into a Bar.
So far we seem to be hitting the Quarterfinals with no problems. It’s the Semis that is the brick wall. Maybe it’ll do better in the Genre Contest.

Well, “Off The Post…” didn’t place in the Semi-Finals of Scriptapalooza. It was nice while it lasted.
Still waiting to hear back from Disney and Zoetrope.

A while back I mentioned that if you were to enter a screenwriting contest to make sure you knew what the prize was before hand. Continue Reading »

“Off The Post…” did not make it into the semi finals at Creative Screenwriting’s AAA Screenwriting Contest.
Oh, well. It was nice to have the ego stroked.
Just waiting on Scritapalooza’s Quarter Finals which will announced on July 29th (another reason to Wardrive in Wolfeboro to find out if we placed!) Disney Fellowship, Zoetrope and now Screenwriting Expo 4’s Contest.

If you, the intrepid Screenwriting Hack decide to send your script into a Screenwriting Contest there are several things to think about before doing such.
First, if you’re already in LA, you are in the Screenwriting Captial of the World. Flip through the yellow pages or Hollywood Creative Directory On-Line and start cold calling people.
Second, if you’re outside LA then you could follow step one and just ignore the contest route all together.
Third, for those of us who don’t follow steps one and two, we throw roughly thirty to fifty dollars of our hard earned money at Contests in the hopes our beloved baby we’ve been working on for the past year, yes, the same beloved baby that has typos here and there and so what if you CAPITILIZED every other word during a key action scene it looks cool!
Then read on….

Well with the year half over, we managed not to place in ScriptPimp’s Contest, place in Creative Screenwriting’s AAA Contest, waiting to hear on Scriptapaloza, Disney Fellowships and heard nothing from Scr(i)pt’s Screenwriting Contest which is odd, to make things more odd, they haven’t updated their website in a month, which doesn’t bode well to me…
So we’re 1-6. The sixth contest being that “Off The Post…” has been entered in is Zoetrope’s Contest.
Screenwriting Expo Contest is nearing the horizon too….

The one bad thing about moving email domains is losing some messages here and there. So either Creative Screenwriting forgot to send me an email or they just took off for the weekend before sending it out.
The good news is Creative Screenwriting Magazine held a AAA Screenwriting Competition and “Off the Post…” made it into the Quarter Finals.
Woo Hoo! Let the PGL 3 Party begin anew!
Just waiting to hear back Disney Fellowships, Scriptapaloza and now Zoetrope.
