(x-posted to my LJ)
My weekend was busier than usual…
Saturday started off with a drive to barn in Warwick to take picutes of a made from scatch, 3/4 Scale F6F Hellcat. A labor of love in the making for 30 years. Unfortunately the owner died in January and never managed to fly it.
It took six people and a few 2×12s to roll it out.
The plane, minus it’s wings, since it wouldn’t have made it out of the barn otherwise was rolled out of the barn, into the yard, around the barn, into the front yard and then we waited for the National Guard to show up with a flatbed.
Plane was then spun around so it would go tail first onto the flatbed. The plane just barely fit on the flatbed.
Managed to take at least 180 photos and few group shots of the National Guard Troops, Family and Friends.
The owner’s next door neighbor looked amazed at the WW II Warbird as it sat on the flatbed in the middle of the two lane street with the Guard directing traffic. “Where did that come from?” He asked. “In the barn.” “I’ve been here for 20 years and never seen that before.”
Will post them soon probably on the Photoblog or via iWeb.
The Plane is being moved to the Quonset Air Muesum and I’m assuming once the wings are put on and everything is cleaned up will be display in the new few months (?).
Then, I went to Cry For Help’s Summer BBQ. My bro, took some pictures.
I have four good pictures from that party: one group, one shot of bug off tiki torchers and three speed shots of a 5 year old playing baseball with his dad and hitting the wiffle ball right back at his father’s waist.
All in all, a good weekend.
Pawsox Game on Friday with the crew, woot!
