Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Ramblin’…
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 arrived and I have to say I am glad it is back.
I have been playing Rainbow since Rainbow Six Three on the original XBox and while a few of the sequels have faltered Rainbow Vegas continued to advance the franchise and gaming in the right direction.
People may argue that the new sprint option in Rainbow is rip off COD4, but sprinting in a game shouldn’t be on just be limited to one game, it should be on all of them. And, so should crawling.
While the graphics and the Cover System are a welcome sight, some quirks were not fixed from Vegas 1.
The ability to map your own face onto the character using the Xbox Vision Camera is still there but the problem of not being able to put all the cool stuff like the hats and sunglasses onto the custom face is glaring to the point of saying: It’s been 18 months and you guys still haven’t figured out how to fix this???
The new Maps are nice, some small, some big, COD 4 big.
The problem is the downloadable content maps most of us bought a year ago from the Black and Red Map Packs are not available, yet. A few maps were brought back from previous Rainbow Series but the lack of their inclusion is annoying. Streets were available through the Comcast Offer on the Special Edition Game. I’m not the only one who misses LVU Campus.
The ACES System (aka leveling up) is a welcome sight. It’s great to see this aspect of RPG games being brought more and more over to the First Person Shooters, Mass Effect being the panicle (imho) of merging RPG/FPS leveling up together.
The last gripe is the fact during ranked matches you respawn, one or twice and that’s it. Previously, you could respawn at any time unless the match rules said otherwise. I hope that a patch will fix this and allow the hosts of the game to adjust the rules themselves.
Overall, beyond a few gripes the game is still solid. It may take a few days to get back into the groove of things since COD4 is so popular right now.
